Darien Touts Way To Save Money In Winter

The city has installed sensors and cameras to help with its snowplowing operations.

DARIEN, IL – You may not be thinking about snow these days, but Darien officials apparently are.

In its weekly newsletter Thursday, the city announced that it has installed frost sensors and cameras, which provide road temperature data during the winter.

The system is installed in the city's seven snowplowing sections, the city said. It allows employees to use optimal anti-icing and de-icing products on roads, saving money and increasing safety, according to the newsletter.
