DARIEN, IL – Darien is warning of the danger of the "One Chip Challenge," which it said is trending on social media.

The challenge can be especially dangerous for children. The city posted a statement about the trend on its website Thursday.

The "One Chip Challenge" is packaged and sold at many stores and contains one tortilla chip with a variety of extreme spices, the city said. The challenge is for people to eat the chip and see how long they can last without eating or drinking anything.

According to Poison Control, eating the chip can lead to severe pain, irritation, burning in the mouth and throat, severe stomach and intestinal discomfort, and vomiting.
