Darien Woman Searching For Dog Lost In Plainfield

The owner was out of town at a funeral when the beloved pooch went missing.

PLAINFIELD, IL -- A Darien woman who was out of town due to a family tragedy suffered another loss when her beloved dog went missing.

Florence Doherty-Dalton said her Cairn terrier, Fae, went missing while she was out of town attending her 5-year-old niece's funeral.

The pooch was staying with Doherty-Dalton's sister in Plainfield when she was last seen March 3 near 119th Street and 248th Avenue in the Heritage Oaks subdivision.

Fae weighs 8 to 10 pounds and is brown, black and white. The 20-month-old pup was wearing a pink collar when she went missing. Doherty-Dalton said the dog is timid and is not likely to approach people.

Anyone who spots Fae should not chase her, and call Doherty-Dalton at 708-257-3282.

Doherty-Dalton said she did not learn of the dog's disappearance until she was on her way home from the funeral.

"I'm just sick over it," she said. Doherty-Dalton said her four children and two other dogs are also distraught over Fae's disappearance.

"My kids are devastated," she said.

Fae is microchipped, and Doherty-Dalton said she's searched animal shelters in the area for her, with no luck.

"We've done everything," including purchasing an electronic billboard at Route 59 and 119th Street, Doherty-Dalton said.
