Darien Holiday Lights Contest Offers Cash Prizes

DARIEN, IL — Darien residents will bring out their brightest holiday lights and sparkling snowmen to vie for the most dazzling display in this year's Holiday Lights Contest. A new category has been added this year to recognize the most decorated neighborhood blocks.

To take part in the block category, five contiguous homes must be decorated. The five best blocks will be honored with official certificates.

Residents will compete for cash prizes that include:

• $200 for 1st place
• $100 for 2nd place
• $50 for 3rd place
• $25 for 4th and 5th places

The deadline for nominations is Dec. 8 and residents are allowed to nominate their own home or block. To nominate, call Diane at 630-353-8102 or email dnoverini@darienil.gov.

The winners will be revealed at the Dec. 18 city council meeting.
