Darien's Free Leaf Pickup Ends This Week
Residents are not permitted to rake leaves into the street.
DARIEN, IL — This is the last week of the free leaf pickup program in Darien. It runs through Saturday and leaves are picked up on residents' normal garbage days.
The leaves should be placed in brown kraft paper yard waste bags or in plastic garbage cans. If you use garbage cans, place "yard waste only" on the cans, so drivers can identify them as leaf pickup. These labels are available at City Hall.
Residents are not permitted to rake leaves into the street. Raking leaves into the street can cause serious local flooding for residents, the city said in a news release. For more information, call 630-852-5000.
