Domestic Battery, 'Clinking' Sound: Darien Cops
A Darien woman is arrested after a domestic disturbance, police said.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the latest reports:
Domestic battery
- Kristina Ballard, 23, of Darien, was arrested about 10 p.m. May 25 in the 1100 block of Plainfield Road on a charge of domestic battery. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

- A woman with a "clinking" sound in her purse attracted attention about 5:30 p.m. Friday at Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave. She left the liquor aisle and passed the checkout lanes. A security camera showed that she stole multiple bottles of liquor and placed them in her purse. The loss was $104.
Retail theft
- Jessica Polan, 24, of Joliet, was cited about 8 p.m. Saturday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. According to a police report, she was seen in the self-checkout lane only paying for some items. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
Theft

- A Trek mountain bicycle was stolen between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. May 23 from the front of a garage in the 1000 block of Ripple Ridge Drive. The bicycle was valued at $1,500.
Damage
- Suspects ripped plants from plant beds and dumped multiple bottles of vinegar on property at Brookhaven Plaza, 7516 Cass Ave. The loss was estimated at $500. A report was filed May 24.
Gun violation
- Christian Reyes, 22, of Chicago, was arrested about 7:30 a.m. May 23 at Cass Avenue and 75th Street on charges of unlawful use of a weapon (gun in a vehicle), no front license plate and tinted side windows. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
DUI
- Ziyu Chen, 37, of San Leandro, California, was arrested about 1 a.m. May 24 near 75th Street and Cass Avenue on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
Driving violations
- Hope Hauter, 25, of Darien, was cited about 6:30 p.m. Thursday at WoodSpring Suites, 951 N. Frontage Road, on a DuPage County warrant charging failure to appear in court for a suspended license case. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Dantreon Steele, 24, of Chicago, was cited about 6:30 p.m. May 25 near Manning and Barclay roads on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. According to a police report, Steele was speeding 46 mph in a 25 mph zone in the 7500 block of Lyman Avenue. Steele was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Alexander Afoakwa, 31, of Harvey, was cited about 2 p.m. May 24 on Lemont Road on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving a vehicle while using a phone and unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver. According to a police report, Afoakwa nearly struck a curb while holding his phone. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
