Domestic Battery, Fleeing: Darien Cops

Three Darien residents were charged in domestic battery incidents in recent days, police said.

DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving domestic battery, fleeing from an officer, DUI, trespassing and warrants. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports.

Domestic battery

  • A 53-year-old man who lives in the 7500 block of Country Lane in Darien was arrested Saturday at home on a charge of domestic battery. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • A 38-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, both of whom live in the Brookdale at Darien apartment complex at 7410 Brookdale Drive, were arrested about 5:30 p.m. Monday at their home on charges of domestic battery. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • An officer saw a motorcyclist, later identified as a 33-year-old Elmhurst man, speeding 67 mph in a 40 mph zone about 8 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Plainfield Road. The officer tried to stop the man, but he sped away and entered Interstate 88. Because the man's registration indicated he lived in Elmhurst, Elmhurst police were alerted. An Elmhurst officer saw the man driving past his house. But authorities were unable to stop the man until he reached Carol Stream. The man was arrested on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, speeding, improper overtaking on the left, improper display of license plates and failure to signal when required. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

DUI

  • A 48-year-old Woodridge man was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Friday at Lemont Road and 83rd Street on a charge of DUI. A witness said the man's car was all over the roadway until coming to a stop. The man was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 62-year-old Lockport man was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on charges of DUI, and stopping, parking or standing on the roadway. An officer saw the man's car stopped in the right lane of the 7900 block of northbound Cass Avenue with no hazard lights. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Trespassing

  • A 29-year-old Westmont man was arrested about 5 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of trespassing. Police said the man stood by the service desk as he repeated the same statement many times and made staff feel uncomfortable. He refused to leave the store when asked to do so. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Warrants

  • A 48-year-old man was arrested on a warrant charging failure to appear in court for an assault case about 11:30 a.m. Monday at WoodSpring Suites, 951 N. Frontage Road. Police said they were called to a domestic dispute at the hotel. The man was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • A 24-year-old Bolingbrook man was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Thursday on a DuPage County traffic warrant. He also faces charges of having no valid driver's license, unlawfully possessing marijuana and speeding. Police said he was clocked speeding 47 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 400 block of Plainfield Road. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail to await a pretrial release hearing.
