Domestic Battery, Retail Theft: Darien Cops

A man was arrested in a domestic disturbance in a local neighborhood, police said.

DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving domestic battery, retail theft, damage and a hit-and-run crash. Here are the latest Darien police reports:

Domestic battery

  • A 28-year-old man from the 7800 block of Stratford Place was arrested about noon Sunday at his home on two counts of domestic battery. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • A 23-year-old woman from Chicago was cited about 4 p.m. Friday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. Police said she was seen at the self-checkout aisle placing $122 worth of items in shopping bags without scanning them. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 63-year-old man from the 7700 block of Leonard Drive in Darien was cited about 10 p.m. Saturday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. Police said he was seen at the self-checkout aisle not scanning all the items in the shopping cart and then trying to leave the store. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 76-year-old man from Oak Brook was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Monday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. Police were told the man was in a black Lexus sedan on eastbound 75th Street. He was found on 73rd Street at Emerson Drive. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Damage

  • A car was reported scratched in a number of places in the 7700 block of Farmingdale Drive. The report was filed Friday, with the damage occurring at some point in the previous 10 days.

  • A hit-and-run crash was reported about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Darien Towne Center, which includes Walmart, in the 2100 block of 75th Street. It occurred between 10 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.
