Domestic Violence, 2 DUIs: Darien Police

A Darien man is accused of two counts of domestic violence.

DARIEN, IL — The latest Darien police reports include domestic violence, DUIs and vandalism. Here is the information from the reports:

Domestic violence

  • Matthew Waszak, 33, of Darien, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of 71st Street on two counts of domestic violence. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DUI

  • Joseph Ramsey, 29, of Denver, was arrested about 10 a.m. Dec. 2 in the 7700 block of Brunswick Road on a charge of DUI (drugs). An officer saw Ramsey passed out in the car. The suspect was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Chalis Mizelle, 34, of Maywood, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 8100 block of Cass Avenue on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Vandalism

  • The front door of a house in the 1400 block of Coventry Court was kicked in and the entire house vandalized. The report was made about 10:30 a.m. Nov. 30.
  • Three girls, ages 10 to 13, accompanied by a mother, knocked over trees causing fasteners to be damaged at the city's clock tower site about 6 p.m. Thursday at Cass Avenue and Plainfield Road. The cost of repairs is yet to be determined.
  • Police received reports about 9:30 p.m. Saturday that a car full of teens was trying to steal decorations and deflate others. Officers responded to the 500 block of Maple Lane, where a resident said a loud noise came from the front of a house. A number of inflatable decorations were deflated. A suspect was seen on video tackling the decorations. Police received a similar call in the 700 block of 70th Street.

  • Eray Alin, 48, of Des Plaines, was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Seminole Drive and Timber Lane on charges of driving with a revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a stop sign. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • Lynia Mister, 41, of Willowbrook, was cited about 3 a.m. Thursday near Cass Avenue and Interstate 55 on charges of driving with a suspended license and driving with one headlight. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Stolen car

  • Demarcus Gartley, 27, of Cincinatti, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Friday in the 8900 block of Lemont Road on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting a police officer, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and speeding. He was stopped for going 60 mph in a 40 mph zone. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
