Drained Pool, Street Racing: Darien Police
A pool was drained and mulch lit on fire at Darien house, report says.
DARIEN, IL — In recent days, Darien police responded to a mulch fire and street racing, among other incidents. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:
- Mulch was lit on fire with a cigarette and a pool was drained between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. June 6 in the 1000 block of Juniper Lane. The estimated loss was $250.
- Two cars were speeding at 2:45 p.m. June 7 in the 8300 block of Lemont Road. One of the cars was stopped and the driver, Haosen Zhang, 22, of Chicago, was cited on charges of speeding more than 35 mph over the posted limit and street racing. He was given a date to appear in court.
- Desirae Brown, 24, of Bolingbrook, was cited about 10:30 p.m. June 3 on charges of not having a valid driver's license and disobeying a traffic signal. She was given a date to appear in court.
- Amanda Covarrubias, 20, of Bolingbrook, was arrested at 2 a.m. June 6 on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
- A mailbox was struck in a hit-and-run accident between 4:30 p.m. June 5 and 2 p.m. June 6 in the 1000 block of 79th Street.
- A wallet was stolen about 3:30 p.m. June 8 at Jewel, 7335 Cass Ave. A suspect removed the wallet while the victim was shopping. The estimated loss was $110.
- Mario Esteban Mendoza, 21, of Beach Park, was arrested shortly before noon June 9 at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a charge of retail theft. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
