Driver With Gun In Darien Stopped: Cops

The stop resulted in a police presence near Taco Bell.

DARIEN, IL – A driver with a gun was initially suspected of drunken driving early Wednesday morning in Darien, police said.

The driver, who was given two citations, underwent tests to determine whether he was impaired, but he apparently passed, police said.

The driver was stopped about 2 a.m. near Taco Bell at 75th Street and Cass Avenue. A resident inquired on social media Wednesday about why so many police cars were in that area.

The driver had a concealed carry license, police said.

The officer was still writing his report as of Wednesday afternoon, so police were hesitant to provide more information until the officer completed it.
