DUI + Domestic Battery: Darien Police Department Blotter

Masked offenders were also caught on video going into a car in the middle of the night on Carlow Drive.

DARIEN, IL — Between Oct. 4-8, the Darien Police Department received reports of theft, trespassing, possession of cannabis, domestic battery, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Domestic Battery

  • On Oct. 7, an officer was dispatched to the Darien Police Department headquarters in reference to an order of protection. A 25-year-old male from the 7900 block of Knottingham Circle was charged with two counts of domestic battery and taken to DuPage County Jail.

  • Following an accident on the 7700 block of Cass Avenue at 8:11 p.m. on Oct. 8, a 31-year-old woman from Darien was arrested on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, disobeying a traffic control device, and speeding. The woman was given a court date of Nov. 9 at DuPage County Judicial Center.

Possession of Cannabis

  • At 8:05 p.m. on Oct, 5, an on-patrol officer noticed a car leaving from the back of a home on the 7700 block of Wildwood Court with no front plate. The driver was cited for unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver and improper display of registration, and given a court date of Nov. 18 at DuPage County Judicial Center. While cannabis is now legal in Illinois for anyone 21 or older, it must be “in a secured, sealed or resealable, odor-proof, child-resistant cannabis container that is inaccessible” when inside a vehicle. It is a Class A misdemeanor if it is not.

Theft

  • A video shows an unknown man removing a catalytic converter from a van parked in the rear lot of Sterling Services at 8404 Wilmette Avenue. The theft, which police said is worth about $350, occurred on Oct. 3 between 1:53 a.m. and 1:57 a.m.
  • On Oct. 5, an officer was dispatched to the Walmart at 2189 75th Street for a report of an employee theft. A female juvenile employee allegedly stole $288.27 worth of merchandise. She was cited on a local ordinance for retail theft and given a court date of Nov. 18 at the DuPage County Judicial Center.

Trespassing

  • A resident of the 2300 block of Carlow Drive reported that they observed video footage of two unknown offenders going through their car at 2:19 a.m. on Oct. 4. The resident said that nothing was stolen from the car.

No incidents were reported on Oct. 6, 9, or 10.
