DuPage County Courthouse Evacuated Due To Fire Alarm

An activated fire alarm in the DuPage County courthouse forced a full evacuation of the building at 9:45 a.m. Monday.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — An activated fire alarm in the DuPage County courthouse forced a full evacuation of the building at 9:45 a.m. Monday. According to a release from DuPage County Sheriff's Office, construction workers were working in an area on the third floor when construction dust entered the ventilation system causing a fire alarm to activate.

“Per our protocols a full facility evacuation was conducted and the Wheaton Fire Department responded. Deputies safely and efficiently conducted the evacuation of approximately 2,750 people,” Administrative Chief Jim Kruse said in a release.

He added in a release, “I can report that the evacuation concluded without any injuries at approximately 10:15 a.m. and the courthouse was reopened.”
