The EJH Cheer-Dance team wrapped up a fantastic competitive cheer season by competing in the Team Dance Illinois State Competition held at the Peoria Civic Center last Sunday, one day after the team took 1st Place in the Inaugural SDEAA Cheer Competition.
The season kicked off with a pre-game show performance at the United Center for the Chicago Bulls in December, and the team went on to earn three 1st Place Trophies at the Sears Centre and Argo High School, and earned their trip to State by taking home 3rd place at the Midwest Championship Competition.
"This was one of the most dedicated group of girls they have worked with and are very proud of all of their accomplishments this season," said Coach McGannon, about the team whom is made up of 6th, 7th and 8th Grade students.
Eighth graders Kayla Butler, Haley Johnson, Kirsten Ventrella, Jasmine Riggs, Kaitlin Hall, Julia Wierzbowska, and Natalie Miller stated that they could never have asked for a better season and are thankful for their coaches dedication to this team. "We never expected to make it this far, but success comes with hard work and dedication," added Coach Taake.
