Endangering Child, Missing Wallet: Darien Police

Woman charged with DUI also accused of child endangerment.

DARIEN, IL — In recent days, Darien police have handled cases involving child endangerment, theft and driving violations. Here is information from the latest reports:

Theft

  • A woman at Walmart, 2189 75th St., informed police about 12:30 p.m. Aug. 6 that her wallet was missing from her purse. A review of store video showed another woman leaving the store with the victim's purple wallet and driving away in a dark SUV.
  • Two trimmers and two leaf blowers were removed from an open work trailer between 10 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. Aug. 6 in the 1100 block of 79th Street. The loss was estimated at $2,000.
  • An American flag was removed from a flagpole between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. Aug. 9 in the 7100 block of Summit Road.

  • Cindy Altamirano, 30, of Joliet, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 8 in the 7900 block of Cass Avenue on charges of DUI, endangering the health or life of a child, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, driving with a revoked license, possession of open alcohol by a driver, and stopping, parking or standing on a roadway. An officer noticed that Altamirano's car was sitting in the right curbed lane blocking traffic on Cass. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Driving violations

  • Bridget Butler, 45, of Darien, was cited about 6 p.m. Aug. 10 on charges of driving with a revoked license and disobeying a stop sign. An officer said she failed to stop at the stop sign at 71st Street and Bentley Avenue. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Alexis Thompson, 27, of Woodridge, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 5 on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. Thompson was stopped after being seen speeding south on Lemont Road from 75th Street. The suspect was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Doniqual Nelson, 23, was cited about 9 p.m. Aug. 7 in the 500 block of Plainfield Road on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of marijuana by a driver and improper lighting. The suspect was released and given a date to appear in court.
