Darien IL – The Indian Prairie Library will host local author Kevin Guilfoile on Thursday, December 9 at 7 p.m. Guilfoile will talk about and sign copies of his new novel The Thousand. Guilfoile's riveting follow-up to Cast of Shadows fuses history with suspense and ancient theory with contemporary mystery and has been described as "spellbinding" by the Chicago Tribune and "a masterpiece of intelligent plotting" by Salon.
Bestselling author Sara Paretsky says, "The Thousand takes the reader on a spine-tingling ride from Las Vegas to Chicago, from ancient Greece to modern America. . . . The Thousand is the story, above all, of a young woman's efforts to tell truth from lies as a network of powerful people tries to use her for its own gain. If you're like me, you'll stay up all night until all the pieces fall into place." The event includes a brief reading, questions from the audience, and a book signing. Barbara's Bookstore will be on hand to sell copies of the books.
Kevin Guilfoile has written for McSweeney's, Salon, The Morning News, and The New Republic. His first novel, Cast of Shadows, has been translated into more than fifteen languages. He lives in Chicago with his wife and children.
