Family Feud At Darien Funeral Home Leads To Arrest: Cops

Officers were called because of an argument, police said. Another incident happened while they were still there.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police were called last week to a disturbance at a local funeral home.

The incident happened on the afternoon of March 2 at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 Cass Ave., police said.

The funeral director told officers that a family was having a heated argument during a service, but they quickly calmed down, according to a police report obtained by Patch. The family was praying the rosary when the officers arrived.

While the police were still there, another confrontation occurred.

One of the family members, identified as Michael Lagasca, 43, of Naperville, said he was standing in the chapel when another family member pushed him to the ground, the report said. Lagasca told officers he believed the incident was connected to an ongoing family feud.

The other man told police that when he was leaving the room, Lagasca intentionally tripped him, police said. The man said he got upset and pushed Lagasca in response.

Video of the incident showed that Lagasca purposely tripped the other man, police said.

The report said Lagasca was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was taken to the police station, where he was issued a citation. He was released pending a court appearance.
