Fire Leaves Darien Home 'Uninhabitable'

The cause of the fire doesn't appear suspicious, but it is still under investigation, the fire department said.

DARIEN, IL – A July 27 fire in a Darien neighborhood left a house "uninhabitable," the local fire department said.

The house is at 8738 Carlisle Court, according to the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District.

About 5 p.m., a Kentwood Court resident called 911 about the fire. Firefighters arrived about five minutes later, the district said.

According to a news release, firefighters found a large amount of smoke and fire coming from the back of the house.

"Crews made an aggressive interior attack but had to be evacuated after the roof became heavily involved in fire," the district said.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in about two hours, the release said.

The fire's cause is under investigation, but it doesn't appear suspicious, the department said.

No residents were injured. A firefighter suffered a minor injury, was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and then released, the release said.
