Fugitive Arrested After Presenting Fake Bill In Darien

Police arrested Jovantae Edmonds, 23, of Chicago, on a warrant in Indiana after he allegedly presented a counterfeit bill at a store.

DARIEN, IL — Police arrested a man as a fugitive from justice after he allegedly tried to pay for a purchase with a counterfeit bill. Jovantae Edmonds, 23, of Chicago, was taken into custody Dec. 28 at Brookhaven Market, 7516 Cass Ave., at approximately 12:40 p.m., police say.

A store employee called police after Edmonds presented what appeared to be a fake bill for payment. Upon arrival, police discovered that Edmonds had an active warrant for his arrest in Indiana.

According to a police summary, Edmonds was charged with fugitive from justice and attempted fraud. He was transported to DuPage County Jail as a result of the outstanding warrant, police said.
