Growth In Darien Coronavirus Cases Slows
Six new cases reported in community in the last week.
DARIEN, IL — The growth in Darien's coronavirus cases continues to slow. As of Sunday, the community saw six more cases over the previous week, increasing to 113, from 107 a week earlier, according to DuPage County Health Department figures.

Darien's increase last week, which amounted to 6 percent, was lower than DuPage County's 9 percent. Darien makes up 2.3 percent of the county's population and 1.5 percent of the coronavirus cases.

As of Sunday, Darien had 5.2 coronavirus cases per thousand people. That compares to 3.1 in Western Springs, 4.9 in Elmhurst and Clarendon Hills, 5.8 in La Grange Park, 8 in Burr Ridge, 8.4 in DuPage County, 10.3 in Hinsdale and 11.4 in La Grange.
In DuPage County, Addison is leading the pack with 731 cases, or 20 per thousand, according to the health department. West Chicago follows with 708 cases, or 26.4 per thousand.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 120,260, up 9 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 5,390 state residents.
Nationally, 1.8 million people have caught the virus and 106,198 have died from it.
