Hinsdale D86 Taps Top Technology Official, Who Will Make $180K
The position will go vacant for two months before the new official starts.

DARIEN, IL – Hinsdale Central and South high schools are getting a new top technology official.
On Monday, the District 86 board approved a two-year contract for Michael Swanson as the chief information officer, making $180,000 a year. He starts July 1.
He is replacing Keith Bockwoldt, who is retiring April 30 with a $199,000 salary. He started in 2019.

Since 2022, Swanson has been the top technology official for Forest Park-based Proviso Township High School District 209, which has about the same enrollment as District 86.
Swanson is a 2013 graduate of Downers Grove South High School.

He graduated with a master's degree in information design and strategy from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in management information systems from Univesity of Wisconsin-Parkside.
"I will be very excited to continue the work of Keith and the district in aligning technology to enhance our education," Swanson told the District 86 board.
District 86 will be without a top technology official for two months after Bockwoldt's retirement.
It has also gone without an assistant superintendent of academics for nearly a year. That was after the board declined to vote last summer on Superintendent Michael Lach's recommended candidate for the post.
Administrative turnover has been an issue in the district for years.
