Hinsdale District 86 Students Selected to Perform at ILMEA

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 today reported that the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) has announced that several District 86 students have been selected to perform at ILMEA’s All-District Jazz Festival and Concert and ILMEA’s All-District Choir, Band and Orchestra Festival. The jazz festival will be held on Saturday, November 15, at Lincoln-Way North High School in Frankfort. The choir, band and orchestra festival will be held on Saturday, November 22, at Lincoln-Way East High School, also in Frankfort.

ILMEA sponsors district and all-state competitions for the state of Illinois. Illinois is divided into nine districts. District 86 is in District 1, which includes the entire city of Chicago and schools located between the borders of Roosevelt Road to the north, Crete-Monee to the south and Interstate 355 to the west.

Students prepare music that is chosen by ILMEA for an audition. If selected, the students are chosen to participate at the appropriate festival. Approximately 2,500 students auditioned from 200 different schools. Students will be selected for all-state competition based on auditions held at the District level following these festivals.
