During the month of February, Hinsdale Humane Society (HHS) is offering vouchers good for free spay/neuter services at participating area veterinary offices. This promotion runs in conjunction with the Humane Society of the United States’ (HSUS) World Spay Day, an annual campaign that shines a spotlight on spay/neuter as a proven means of saving animals’ lives.

In support of World Spay Day, HHS is reaching out to pet owners who would not otherwise be able to have their pets spayed or neutered due to financial limitations. Every year, between six and eight million dogs and cats enter U.S. shelters; tragically, some three to four million of these animals are euthanized because there are not enough homes for them.

“Spaying and neutering saves lives by reducing the pet overpopulation,” said Jenny Vlazny, HHS Operations Manger. “It also comes with health benefits like helping to curb unruly pet behavior. Ultimately it saves on medical expenses.”

Vouchers for the free service will be available at HHS to qualifying pet owners, while supplies last. Additionally, World Spay Day Hearts will be available for a donation to the HHS Spay/Neuter Fund. Spay Day Heart purchases will allow HHS to offer additional spay/neuter vouchers to the community. The hearts will be on display in the HHS lobby. Stop by Hinsdale Humane Society to support Spay Day and our ongoing efforts to reduce pet overpopulation.
