Hinsdale Police Reports: Credit Card Fraud, Stolen Fanny Pack, iPad Mini Theft

A thief stole a wallet Oct. 6 from an employee at RML Speciality Hospital, according to Hinsdale Police. The wallet was left in the employee’s purse in an office. The wallet was valued at $10 and inside it had $10 cash, a debit card, insurance cards and an ID.
Someone forged and then cashed four checks, worth $3,820, on Oct. 6, according to Hinsdale Police. The forgery happened at the Ear Institute of Chicago, LLC, and the forger used a victim’s bank account information to write the checks.

Two unauthorized purchases, totaling $97.26, were made Oct. 7 on a victim’s credit card, according to Hinsdale Police. The victim used her card at a BP gas station on E Ogden Avenue, and she realized the card was missing when she was notified that fraudulent purchases were made on her card.
A victim’s credit card was used between Sept. 11 and 12 to purchase five plane tickets, totaling $403, according to Hinsdale Police.

A victim’s identity was used to open a bank account Oct. 8 in a case of identity theft, according to Hinsdale Police.
A thief stole four iPad Minis from a locked rolling cart at Oak School. The theft happened between Dec. 11, 2013 and Oct. 10, 2014, according to Hinsdale Police. The iPads were valued at $1,400.
A thief stole an iPhone on Oct. 10 from a ManorCare patient, after he moved to a new room, according to Hinsdale Police.
A thief stole two air conditioning units between Sept. 27 and Oct. 10 from the outside of a vacant house, according to Hinsdale Police. The units were worth more than $500.
A burglar took a fanny pack from an unlocked car Oct. 11 on Grant Square, according to Hinsdale Police. The fanny pack had identification inside it.
