Hinsdale Police Reports: Hit and Run, DUI, Theft, Cyber Attack

Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through Nov. 18.

Hinsdale police arrested Elvis Zymeri, age 39 of 211 W 59th St., #12, for driving under the influence, improper lane use and illegal transportation of alcohol. Police stopped Zymeri on Nov. 16 at Madison Street and 59th Street for improper lane use and they believed he was under the influence, according to police. Zymeri refused BAC testing and he had an open alcohol container in the car. Police arrested Zymeri. He was charged and released to appear in court.

Hinsdale police arrested Justin Johnson, age 20 of 504 N County Line Road, on Nov. 15 after he crashed into a home in the 10 block of W Ayers Avenue and ran away at 4:54 a.m., according to police. Family members brought Johnson to the hospital. He may be charged with DUI after police get lab report results. He may also be charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, hit and run and improper lane use.

A village computer was targeted Oct. 30 in a cyber-attack, according to Hinsdale police. Police say a hacker encrypted files on a Public Works computer and demanded money in exchange for un-encrypting the files.

A nanny took $3,000 cash on Aug. 15 as an advance payment for services that were not provided, according to Hinsdale police. The nanny has not returned the victim’s calls.

Hinsdale police have also investigated recent residential burglaries.
