Hinsdale Police Reports: Hit and Run, Theft, DUI

Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through Sept. 29.

Ten pieces of jewelry were reported missing Sept. 23 from a home in the 400 block of West 58th Place, according to Hinsdale police. The jewelry was kept in a dresser drawer, and it is valued at about $5,000. Workers were authorized to do work in the home between Feb. 25 and Sept. 23.

Juan M Contresas Chavez, 47 of the 16500 block of Terry Lane, Oak Forest, was arrested Sept. 23 and charged with leaving the scene of property damage at Lincoln Street and Hinsdale Avenue, according to Hinsdale police. Police say he fled the scene and a witness obtained his registration information. He was released to appear in court.

An iPad was reported missing from the back seat of a car Sept. 21 at Fuller’s Car Wash after the car had been serviced, according to Hinsdale police.

Hinsdale police found 17 pieces of U.S. mail between Sept. 24 and 25 in the 800 block of North Washington Street. They returned the mail and contacted the US Postal Inspection Service.

Heather Miller, 27 of the 2400 block of Emerald Court, Woodridge, was stopped for speeding and improper land use Sept. 25 at 55th and Grant streets, according to Hinsdale police. She was seen to be under the influence of alcohol, she submitted to testing and was determined to be over the legal limit. Miller was charged and released to appear in court.

Jesus Aviles-Lopez, 32 of the 2200 block of South Oakley Avenue, Chicago, was stopped for speeding Sept. 26 at 55th and Elm streets, according to Hinsdale police. He submitted to testing that showed he was over the legal limit. He was charged with drunken driving and released to appear in court.

Someone damaged four light posts, a spot light and two windows between Sept. 25 and 26 in the 900 block of North Adams, according to Hinsdale police.

Someone wrote a check Sept. 14 for $25.21 that was returned for non-sufficient funds, according to Hinsdale police.

Someone reportedly drove a blue SUV over a man’s foot and sped off Sept. 28 in the 400 block of South Thurlow Street, according to Hinsdale police. The driver is described as a white man, 18 to 20 years old with brown curly hair, and a passenger in the car is described as a white man, 18 to 20 years old, police reported.

Someone hit a parked car and fled the scene Sept. 24 in the Hinsdale Fruit Store parking lot on West First Street, according to Hinsdale police. A witness said the car that drove away was a beige color Mercedes sedan driven by a white woman, about 50 to 60 years old with blonde hair.
