Hinsdale South Celebrates World Language Week
South student and alumna will speak Friday about their experiences abroad.

DARIEN, IL — Hinsdale South High School is celebrating World Language Week this week. Students will have a chance to sample cuisine from around the world and hear from bilingual staff members outside the world languages department who have lived or studied in other countries, according to a school district Facebook post.
The school also will host three guest speakers who will be in the school's Little Theater on Friday to share their experiences about using languages other than English while abroad, the post said. These speakers include Dr. Mary Lewis, a physician who has worked in several Spanish-speaking countries, current South student Maaria Abdel-Moneim, who served as a medical volunteer in Colombia, and Caitlin Hakala, who studied abroad in Spain and spent several years in the Peace Corps.
