She is taking a principal's job in a nearby school district.

DARIEN, IL — Arwen Pokorny Lyp, principal of Hinsdale South High School, announced Friday she is resigning and taking the principal's job at Downers Grove South High School.
On Monday, the school board for Community High School District 99 is scheduled to approve her hiring, according to a statement from Hinsdale High School District 86. Her final day is set for June 30, the end of the budget year.
It's a big promotion for Pokorny Lyy. Downers Grove South's enrollment of 2,700 students is more than double Hinsdale South's.

In a statement, Superintendent Tammy Prentiss called Pokorny Lyp a "tremendous" administrator and leader in the district for 15 years.

"Her hard work, tenacity and innovative approach to learning have helped Hinsdale South grow into one of the top schools in the area," Prentiss said. "Her dynamic personality, collaborative spirit, and passionate commitment to education have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and families. Most importantly, her kindness, compassion and tireless advocacy for children have had a profound and lasting impact on the growth, development and success of our students."
Pokorny Lyp called the decision to change jobs one of the toughest she has ever had to make.
"Not only will I have the chance to serve the community I have lived in for nearly two decades, I will also be able to lead the high school that my sons will be attending in the years ahead," Pokorny Lyp said in a statement.
But she said she was leaving the place that has been her "home" for 15 years.
"Working at Hinsdale South has never been just a job for me. To call it that would be a disservice to how much this school, district and community mean to me," Pokorny Lyp said. "I have seen myself grow as an educator, administrator and parent during my time here, and made memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life."
