House Burglarized In Darien Neighborhood: Cops

In another case, two DUI suspects were arrested after officers saw them striking curbs, police said.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter Thursday. Here is information from the latest reports:

Burglary

  • Someone burglarized a house between 9 a.m. Nov. 1 and 4:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in the 900 block of 67th Street. A sliding glass door was found shattered with pry marks. Empty boxes were on the floor inside. The damage was estimated at $1,000.

  • A 51-year-old Plainfield woman was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and improper stopping on the roadway. An officer saw the woman stopped in the left lane on Cass Avenue at 75th Street. She stayed in the lane for an entire green light cycle. When the light changed to green again, she continued on Cass Avenue. She then served from the left lane to the right without using a signal, then moved back to the left lane and crossed over the median and boundary lanes. She drove over the curb. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 30-year-old Tinley Park man was arrested about Saturday at 75th Street and Fairview Avenue on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. An officer reported seeing the man changing lanes repeatedly and then veering to the right and striking a curb. He drove on the grass and returned to the road. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 41-year-old Plainfield woman was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of North Frontage Road on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving with no insurance. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail for a traffic warrant charging failure to appear in Will County Court.

Damage

  • Someone damaged the plastic housing underneath the steering column of a car between Oct. 1 and Nov. 1 in the 700 block of Walnut Drive.

  • An 18-year-old Willowbrook man was arrested about 9 p.m. Nov. 2 on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, driving without a valid driver's license, possession of marijuana by a driver and speeding. Police saw the man speeding 67 mph in a 40 mph zone on southbound Cass Avenue. He turned east onto 91st Street, then failed to stop at the stop sign approaching Clarendon Hills Rad. An officer tried to stop the man, who did not pull over for several blocks. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
