Labor Day 2017: What's Closed, What's Open In Darien

Here's a roundup of what's open and what's closed on Labor Day.

DARIEN, IL — For most people, Labor Day marks the end of summer, even though the official end of summer isn't until late summer. However, by Labor Day, the kids are back in school and the relaxed summer routine is replaced.

This year, Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 4. Since Labor Day is a federal holiday, it means a day off work and no school for children, and many municipal services are also closed. Here's what will be closed in Darien:

  • City offices closed Monday.
  • The Community Center and Fitness Center will be closed on Monday,
Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.
  • Indian Prairie Public Library, closed Sunday and Monday.
  • Darien school districts and Hinsdale South High School closed Monday.
  • Waste/garbage services, no services Monday.

Most businesses and retail centers are open on Labor Day, but it's always best to double check hours or calling ahead.
