Lightning Strike Sparks Fire in Darien Home

Neighbors who saw the fire told the home's resident and helped him get to safety.

Fire investigators believe a lightning strike caused a Darien house fire Aug. 18 that caused an estimated $150,000 in damages and left the home uninhabitable.

Darien-Woodridge Fire District firefighters were called at 7:56 p.m. to the house fire in the 1500 block of Pineview Court in Darien, according to a news release.

The first unit arrived at the house about four minutes after the call to find heavy fire coming from the attic and a second-floor window. Neighbors who saw the fire told the home’s resident and helped him get to safety.
