Man Breaks Darien Business Windows In Broad Daylight: Cops

The case has been turned over to the Illinois attorney general, the police chief said.

DARIEN, IL – A man broke the windows of two businesses in broad daylight last week in Darien's Brookhaven Plaza, police said.

About 8 a.m. Oct. 29, security footage showed a man getting out of a red pickup truck and breaking the front door windows with a bar. The businesses were La Panza Latin American Grill and Dotty's gambling café.

The truck was last seen headed west on Plainfield Road. No license plates could be seen, police said.

It was a Sunday. Dotty's was not open yet, and La Panza is closed that day. Police received the report shortly before 11 p.m.

Darien Police Chief Greg Thomas provided Patch information about the damage after an alderman asked him about it at Monday's City Council meeting.

Thomas said the investigation has been turned over to the Illinois Attorney General's Office.
