Man Declares Beer Need In Darien Store, Then Steals Modelo: Cops
He threw $3 on the convenience store's front counter before committing theft, police said.
DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter. Here is information from the reports:
Retail theft
- About 1:30 a.m. June 13, a 22-year-old Woodridge man threw three one-dollar bills on the front counter at Speedway gas station, 10250 Lemont Road. He then selected a 12-pack of Modelo beer, proclaimed that he needed it and took it without paying the full price. He was charged with retail theft. He was given a court date and then released. The beer was returned.
- Two people stole three bottles of alcohol about 8:30 p.m. June 12 at Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave. They drove away. The bottles were valued at $78.
- An officer was told that a retail theft was occurring about 1:30 p.m. June 15 at Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave. A security employee saw a woman who concealed merchandise in her purse. When she left the store, the officer and security employee stopped her. The woman, a 24-year-old from Woodridge, was charged with retail theft. She was given a court date and then released.
- An officer was called about 11 a.m. Tuesday to Jewel, 7329 Cass Ave. A security employee saw a woman concealing various store items in her purse. She paid for some items, but not for those in her purse. The woman, a 27-year-old from Willowbrook, was charged with retail theft. She was given a court date and then released.

- About 7 p.m. June 12 at Walmart, a man told police that he found a long, thin scratch on his car's rear driver's side door that was not there previously.
