Man Flashing Police-Like Lights: Darien Cops

A hit-and-run crash happens in the middle of a major intersection, police say.

DARIEN, IL — Darien police responded to a variety of calls in recent days, including a man who was flashing lights that appeared to be from a police car, according to a report. Here is information from the latest Darien police blotter:

  • Jorge Hernandez-Ruiz, 21, of Westmont, was cited about 7 p.m. May 28 on a charge of possession of flashing lights or police equipment. An officer saw Hernandez-Ruiz's car with flashing red and blue lights on the grill. He was given a date to appear in court.
  • Mikayla Jawor, 21, of Darien, was cited about 2 a.m. May 27 on charges of driving with a suspended license, no insurance and speeding. An officer saw her car speeding east on 87th Street. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A hit-and-run accident happened about 2:30 p.m. May 27 in the middle of the intersection at Cass Avenue and 75th Street. The victim's car was struck by a blue Honda, which was last seen headed east on Cass.
  • Brandon Reyes, 24, of Chicago, was arrested about 2 a.m. June 10 on a DeKalb County warrant on a charge of failing to appear in court. He was stopped after an officer saw him speeding in the 8100 block of Cass Avenue. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
