WILLOWBROOK, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff is reminding the public to stay vigilant after a man asked a young girl to get into his car Saturday in unincorporated Willowbrook. Police say the incident took place around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Clarendon Hills Rd.
According to police, the suspect was described as a white male, roughly 30 years old, with shoulder length brown hair and a "small brownish mustache." He was last seen driving a red two-door compact car, police say.
In the wake of this incident, police remind parents to make sure that their children "always walk in pairs, carry a cellphone and a set of keys in your hand if possible, and to never talk to strangers." If a child is approached, police recommend they loudly yell for the stranger to leave them alone while threatening to call the police.
