Man Who Hit Darien Cop Arrested Again: Police

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious car in town and then arrested the man.

DARIEN, IL – A man charged last month with striking a Darien officer was arrested again this week, police said.

Stephen Nichols, 43, was arrested Monday on a warrant charging him with failing to appear in court. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail, but he wasn't still there as of Thursday.

Police said they found Nichols about 9 p.m. after they received a report of a suspicious car at Gigi Lane and 75th Street.

Last month, police indicated that Nichols lived in Indian Head Park. But they said he has no home now.

About 8 a.m. Nov. 11, police responded to a report of a man with a gun, identified as Nichols, at Speedway gas station, 7502 Cass Ave., police said.

During the investigation, Nichols hit the officer who was trying to arrest him, police said.

Nichols was charged with aggravated battery, assault and resisting a police officer, police said.
