Mission Breakfast to Feature Operation Christmas Child Speakers
Serena Butler, the Upper Midwest Regional Manager for Operation Christmas Child, poses with a shoe box recipient in Togo.

A women’s ministry group at St. John Lutheran Church at 7214 South Cass Avenue in Darien, IL will host a Mission Breakfast on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The theme will be “Sharing Christ Throughout the World” and will focus on living our lives in active mission service and Gospel outreach wherever God has planted us.
Attendees will be treated to a Continental breakfast after which Serena Butler, the Upper Midwest Regional Manager for Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, will give a presentation titled “More Than a Shoe Box.” Specifically, she will speak on her trip last year to Lomé, Togo in West Africa where she took part in five OCC outreach events. In sharing her experiences, she will illustrate how God works through OCC to answer prayers and to make an eternal difference in the lives of children, families, and church planters. Serena's observations will be confirmed by Alina, an OCC shoe box recipient, who will treat attendees to a first person account on how a shoe box changed her life.
A freewill offering will be received to support OCC’s 12-lesson Bible-based discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, which expands upon the native language Gospel tract included in each shoe box.
