More New Weekly Virus Cases In Darien Than In Month: County
The city experiences no coronavirus deaths in the last week.
DARIEN, IL — Last week, Darien saw the most weekly coronavirus cases than it has in more than a month, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, Darien had seen 2,055 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 23 in the last week. The week before last, the city experienced 14 new cases.
The city's number of coronavirus deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 25. The deaths work out to about a thousandth of Darien's population.

As of Sunday, Darien had 95 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, better than its neighbors. The figure compares to 104 in La Grange Park, 108 in Hinsdale and DuPage County, 110 in Elmhurst, 116 in Clarendon Hills, 118 in Western Springs and suburban Cook County, 119 in Burr Ridge and 137 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,695,524, a 0.9 percent increase from the previous week, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 25,771.
Nationally, 45.9 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, a 1.2 percent increase from the previous week, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 743,410 people have died from the virus in the United States.
