New Year's 2019: What's Open, Closed In Darien

Here's what's closed on the first day of 2019 in Darien.

DARIEN, IL — It's time to ring in the New Year in Darien, but just like last week, some area offices and businesses will be closed for New Year's Day and New Year's Eve. Schools are still on winter break and many will have the day off work to celebrate 2019.

Here's a list of what's open and what's closed on New Year's Day in Darien:

  • Post office: Closed
  • Federal offices: Closed
  • City of Darien: Offices closed Jan. 1.
  • District 61: School resumes Jan. 7.
  • District 86: School resumes Jan. 8.
  • Indian Prairie Library: Closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
  • Banks: Closed
  • Gas stations: Open
  • Retail stores: Some will be closed, but many — including area grocery stores — will be open, but check the hours before you go.
