The single most pressing issue facing our city is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Board is stagnant same alderman elected over and over. My intent is to bring new ideas and more transparency to the citizens and improve city government.
Do you support Black Lives Matter and what are your thoughts on the demonstrations held since the death of George Floyd and the shooting of Jacob Blake?
(No answer)
Do you think the current board has done enough to support racial equality, and if not, what specifically should be done to do so?
(No answer)
What are your thoughts on the national and local coronavirus response? Do you favor measures such as limiting operation of non-essential businesses and restricting indoor/outdoor dining? And do you favor a local mask mandate?
I'm in favor of the masks until this virus is over but restaurants should be allowed for limited indoor dining and not closed. There is plenty of ventilation of fresh air coming in and with out door dining only you are enclosed in a tent without fresh ventilation.
What are your thoughts on the state and local coronavirus vaccine distribution, and how do you think local governments should work together to handle vaccine rollout?
Federal and state government need to get their priorities straightened out so local government know which way to proceed. Pharmacies and doctors offices and county health department is best since they have tracking systems already set up.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I would make myself available on a monthly basis to meet with the residents in my ward.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
When a business want to expand the decision is made by a small group of people and not decided by looking at the whole project and betterment of the city.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform
Make the alderman more responsive to the residents concerns, Insure there is safety in the city. Maintain a balance budget.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Been working in different government entities since 1976 and dealing with numerous elected officials on different programs and committees to improved the operation of the local government.
If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office as a success?
Improve department response to residents complaints, Make sure Darien has a excellent police department. Hold the line on new taxes.
Why should voters trust you?
Been a resident since 1986 and I intend on living here and making sure other residents can afford to live in Darien and not be taxed out of there property.
What are your views on fiscal policy, government spending and the use of taxpayer dollars in the office you are seeking?
With covid pandemic it will take many years for the residents to get back to where they were before the pandemic and the city must make sure on holding the line on any taxes and possible do some readjustments in departments to stay efficient.
Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office, other than those of health or family?
no
The best advice ever shared with me was:
As my father said make sure you treat everyone the same way you would like to be treated. Everyone has different issues so don't be judgmental about them.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
If elected I will make sure I make myself available to the residents and listen to there concerns and work on keeping Darien a nice and safe place to live.
