Organic Spa Intelligent Beauty: A Natural Approach to Beauty

When Sandra Moosani was growing up in Lithuania, she heard a lot about the U.S.

“America was a dream country for everyone,” she explained.

That dream came true for her. And now another one has as well, with the opening of her new business, .

Moosani received her cosmetology training in Lithuania. When she moved to the states and became licensed here, she worked at several salons. As she started her family, healthy options became very important to her.

“I was always interested in what was healthier for my family,” she said.

Moosani began to read the labels on the products in the salons, and she did not like what she saw.

“I was getting into those healthy products, and the last time that I worked (at a salon), I began paying attention to the ingredients, and there were nothing but parabens,” she explained.

The salon owners did not share her concerns with the health risks associated with parabens. So she took matters into her own hands – literally.

Moosani began working out of her home. She provided the same spa services but selected organic products, free of parabens.

“I didn’t want to have to wash my hands right after giving a facial,” she explained. “Those chemicals are absorbed and go right into your bloodstream.”

Her list of clients quickly grew, so Moosani decided to open her own spa. She wanted a small, cozy space close to home. After driving around the area, she found it in a small shopping center between 75^th Street and Plainfield Road in Darien, just east of where the two roads intersect.

Moosani’s new space needed a lot of work. She painted the interior herself, and put up shelves and decorated. Her husband helped her with the flooring. She opened the door to her new day spa on May 1.

Moosani named her spa "Intelligent Beauty" because she believes that organic products are a smarter, healthier choice.  

“It’s a totally different concept here,” she explained. “Just having organic products here says we do care about people. What I’m putting on the clients’ skin, I know it’s really good for them. So that makes me happy.”

Moosani and her staff offer a full range of spa services, all by appointment only.

“Everybody is extremely busy in this country. Everybody! So I don’t want to waste anybody’s time,” she explained. 

From the soft music floating down from the speakers, to the unfussy décor, the goal of Moosani and her staff is to help their clients relax.

“We don’t rush anyone out. We don’t do services just to get done. We do it to make sure they are happy. They are not pressured to buy any products,” she said. “As long as they leave happy with the service, that’s all that matters.”
