Duo Steals Cigarettes From Darien Store: Cops

In another case, a car's loud grinding sound led to a DUI arrest, police said.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the reports:

Theft

  • Two hoodie-wearing men entered the back room and put several cigarette cartons in bags about 4 a.m. Saturday at Speedway gas station, 10250 Lemont Road. The men then left and ran south of the building.

  • A 26-year-old Woodridge woman was cited about 8:30 p.m. Monday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on a retail theft charge. Police said she was seen under-scanning items at the self-checkout counter. She was released and given a date to appear in court. She was issued a no-trespass warning at Walmart.

DUIs

  • A 44-year-old Chesapeake, Virginia, man was arrested Saturday on charges of DUI, use of unsafe tires and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. An officer heard a loud grinding noise coming from the man's car in the 7300 block of Route 83, police said. The man also was weaving between the center lane and the right curb lane. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 30-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 3 a.m. Thursday on Suffield Court on charges of DUI, disobeying a traffic control signal, improper turn at an intersection, transportation of open alcohol, improper lane usage, expired license plates and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. An officer saw the man run a red light at Cass Avenue and 75th Street, police said. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
