Plainfield DUI Suspect Backs Into Cop Car: Police

The driver appeared asleep, but woke up when an officer arrived, authorities said.

DARIEN, IL – A Plainfield man was accused of drunken driving earlier this week after backing into a squad car, Darien police said.

Ryan Highland, 37, of Plainfield, faces charges of DUI and improper stopping on the roadway.

About 11:30 p.m. Sunday, an officer stopped after seeing a car parked on Lemont Road at 83rd Street, police said. The driver, Highland, appeared to be sleeping, but woke up when the officer arrived, police said. That's when he was reported to have backed into the squad car.
