Police: Report Suspicious People Dressed as Utility Workers
Darien residents have also reported six phone scam attempts since Jan. 15.

Darien police are asking residents to call 911 to report suspicious people dressed as utility workers, according to the City of Darien.
These people may be wearing safety vests and approaching residential property when utility work isn’t scheduled and a utility vehicle isn’t seen parked on the street.
Call 911 for an immediate police response.

Darien residents have also reported six phone scam attempts since Jan. 15, according to the city. No one has reported lost money through these scams.
A resident got an email about an opportunity to make about $500 advertising Apple products on his personal car. The resident received an illegitimate check for $2,520 and was instructed to mail $1,970 to California. The city is telling residents not to deposit cash or checks for an amount greater than originally stated, and to contact the bank listed on the check to verify its legitimacy. Don’t respond to unsolicited offers on the phone, Internet or by mail.

Another resident got a scam phone call from someone who said the resident won a Walmart gas card, and a credit card number was needed for shipping charges. Do not provide credit card information to unsolicited phone callers.
