On the afternoon of May 21, the wife of the resident returned home and was unloading groceries when she saw a sealed blank envelope on the garage floor, police said.

Inside was a handwritten message on notebook paper.

Among other things, it said, "Trump – Total Retard Moron Pathetic. Maga – Morons are gathering again."

The letter also said, "Signed Antifa The Radical Left." Antifa is a decentralized, left-wing movement in the United States.

The letter contained three words written vertically – "Republican," "evangelist" and "SCOTUS," which stands for Supreme Court of the United States. Each letter of the words began a word written horizontally. For instance, "Republican" was translated into "Rat Excrement Putrid Unhinged Bastards Liars Idiots Cabal Attacks Nation."

The swastika portion of the letter stated, "Ever notice how 'Free Kyle' rhymes with 'sieg heil.'" This was an apparent reference to Kyle Rittenhouse. He was the teen who shot to death two men, but was later found not guilty on self-defense grounds.

The letter writer also used obscenities.

"F--- the right wing! Go to hell, Haters!" the letter said.

The wife of the resident said the letter alarmed her and that she feared for her husband's safety, according to the report.

She said the letter could have been the result of her husband's involvement in local politics. She noted they had political signs in their yard.

The wife said she wanted to sign a complaint if the suspect were found. Police could find no security cameras in the area to help them identify the suspect.

The case was listed as disorderly conduct.
