Rash of Car Burglaries In Darien: Police
A witness saw a suspect checking car door handles about 3 a.m., police say.

DARIEN, IL — Darien police responded to a series of car burglaries that occurred early the morning of Jan. 2. One witness reported seeing suspects trying car door handles about 3 a.m.
Shortly before 6 a.m. Jan. 2, an officer on patrol saw a reflective bag in the middle of 71st Street and Beechnut Lane and an open garage door. The homeowner was notified, and a check of the unlocked cars showed no forced entry.
An officer assisting with that call noticed a car a block away with its door open. Notified of this, the homeowner said the car must have been been entered into at some point during the night. The loss was minimal.

A few minutes later, an officer was called to the 500 block of 69th Street for a vehicle burglary. According to the victim, someone entered the work vehicle overnight and stole a laptop valued at $300.
About an hour later, another resident walked into the police station to report that someone entered an unlocked vehicle overnight in the 7000 block of Beechnut Lane and removed a camping tool valued at $15.

Later that day, a resident in the 7900 block of Hedgewood Drive reported that someone entered an unlocked car through an open garage door during the previous night, reporting that the loss was minimal. And a resident in the 300 block of Janet Avenue reported a car burglary as well. Two men were seen on video about 2:30 a.m. entering two unlocked cars parked in the driveway. The loss was unknown.

- A car at Avolve gym, 7516 Cass Ave., was burglarized between 10:30 and 11 a.m. Jan. 1. A suspect smashed a passenger side window and removed a backpack. The loss was estimated at $10,190.
- A house in the 400 block of Maple Lane was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. Jan. 2. The suspect entered through the back door of the house. Cash and a number of items were stolen. The loss was estimated at $3,800.
- Roslind Dudley, 38, of Wheaton, was arrested shortly after midnight Jan. 3 on charges of obstructing identification and operating a car with one headlight and on two DuPage County warrants for failure to appear in court. She was stopped because her driver's side headlight was not working. She was given dates to appear in court.
- Taqailsha Farmer, 23, of Bolingbrook, was arrested Jan. 5 at Cass Avenue and Plainfield Road on a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver. An officer stopped her for a registration light that was not working.
- Michael Jackson, 22, of Calumet City, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Jan. 6 in the 7100 block of Cass Avenue on charges of having no driver's license, having an expired license plate and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
