Redistricting Splits Darien Between New 6th and 11th District Boundaries

Whether you want it or not, change is coming to Darien during the next congressional election.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting Gov. Pat Quinn signed into law Friday new congressional district boundaries that remove Darien from the 13th District, currently represented by Republican Judy Biggert.
For at least the next 10 years, Darien will be divided between two districts, according to the Democratic-drawn map.

The 6th District will push south to cover suburbs including Downers Grove, Westmont and parts of Darien.
Rep. Peter Roskam, R-IL, currently represents the 6th District.

The 11th District will move north to include parts of the southern end of Darien, as well as neighboring Bolingbrook and Woodridge.
Former Rep. Bill Foster, D-IL, announced May 31 that he is seeking to return to Congress with a 2012 bid for the 11th District. Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger currently represents the district.
