Rep. Sandack to Return as Floor Leader; Will Serve as Leading Republican Voice on Three Other Key Committees

State Representative Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) a practicing attorney for 26 years, will return to his position as the House Republicans’ Floor Leader for the 99th General Assembly.

As floor leader, Sandack will be the leading voice on the House floor during debates on key bills. “It is a privilege to have such an important role in the General Assembly,” said Sandack. “I vocally support and encourage a ‘yes’ vote on bills that I believe are in the best interest of Illinois, and more importantly, I try to persuade my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to vote against bills that are harmful to taxpayers, businesses, or are in an overall sense bad for Illinois.”

Sandack will also lend his talents for the next two years as the new Co-Chair of the bipartisan and bicameral Joint Commission on Administrative Rules (JCAR). JCAR includes six State Representatives and six Senators, split evenly between political parties. The commission is charged with ensuring that the General Assembly is adequately informed of how laws are implemented through agency rulemaking and with facilitating public understanding of rules and regulations. “Unlike the many committees and commissions that may only make recommendations to the House and Senate, JCAR has rulemaking authority. The decisions we make have a direct impact on the implementation of new laws in our state.”

In addition to serving as House Republican Floor Leader and as Co-Chair of JCAR, Sandack was also recently chosen as the Republican Spokesperson for the Judiciary-Criminal Committee and the Special Committee on Restorative Justice. Sandack will also serve during the 99th General Assembly as a member of the following other committees:

· Community College Access & Affordability

· Elementary & Secondary School Curriculum and Policy

· Judiciary-Criminal

· Public Utilities

· Special Committee on Business Growth & Incentives

· Special Committee on Renewable Energy & Sustainability
