Darien Restaurant Fire May Be Electrical: Fire Official

Plainfield Road was closed for a short time as a result of the fire, authorities said.

DARIEN, IL – Firefighters responded Monday morning to a small fire at Culver's restaurant at 541 Plainfield Road in Darien, an official said.

Tri-State Fire Protection District was called about 8:30 a.m. to the fire, which involved the drive-thru's overhang, Deputy Fire Chief Craig Jansen told Patch in an interview.

The fire's cause is under investigation, but it is believed to involve a malfunctioning electrical system, Jansen said.

A man answering the phone at Culver's about 10:15 a.m. Monday said the restaurant wasn't open yet, but is expected to do so later today.

For a short time, Plainfield Road from 75th Street to Clarendon Hills Road was closed because of the fire, Darien police said.
