Restaurant Opens In Darien Over Weekend

DARIEN, IL – A restaurant opened its second location over the weekend in Darien, a city official confirmed.

Darien Alderman Dan Gombac said he recruited Mini Hut Chicken to town. It is in the strip mall at 7517 S. Cass Ave., which includes Starbucks and Nothing Bundt Cakes.

"I found out that they were going to look at putting up a second location," Gombac told the City Council last week. "So I contacted the owner, had a nice long conversation with him and got him excited about coming to Darien."

Mini Hut is replacing Charleys Cheesesteaks, which has closed.

Patch wrote last week that the sign outside the business said Mini Hut was coming soon.

Southwest Chicago thought Mini Hut, which opened in 1972, was gone forever when the owner died in 2022.

But 22-year-old Brett Gomez brought the restaurant back to the same location earlier this year, NBC 5 reported.

The Darien restaurant's hours are listed as 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
